Big Nine

Africa’s Big Nine include the Big Five, plus

6.    Cheetah
Cheetahs are often seen in family groups walking across the plains or resting in the shade. They are slimmer and longer legged than leopards, with a characteristic sway back.

7.    Giraffe
In many ways the most stunning of the Big Nine is the Giraffe. It may not be as magnificent as a full-grown Lion, or as awe-inspiring as an Elephant, but its elegance is unsurpassed. To see a small party of Giraffe galloping across the plains is seeing Africa as it has been for hundreds of years.

8.    Hippopotamus
Derived from the ancient Greek for "river horse", is a large, mostly herbivorous mammal in sub-Saharan Africa, and one of only two extant species in the family Hippopotamidae (the other is the Pygmy Hippopotamus.) After the elephant, the hippopotamus is the third largest land mammal and the heaviest extant artiodactyl.

9.      Zebra
There is no mistaking what you're seeing when you spot a horselike animal with black-and-white stripes: it's a zebra. Just as humans have their own unique pattern of fingerprints, each zebra has its own unique pattern of those distinctive stripes.
