Tanzania Climate

Weather in Tanzania is in the main tropical. Most areas are temperate especially in the north western highlands. The coast is hot and humid. The central inland plateau is dry and arid.

Between March and May is when the rains are heaviest.  The short rains come around November and December.  Many safari visitors like the hot, dry climate in January and February. It’s a great time to visit the Serengeti as it is calving season for grazers. This provides plenty to eat for predators including: Lion, hyena and leopard which follow in toe.

June to October is the coolest time of the year in Tanzania.  The warmest months are between November and March. For the mountain climbers, the weather on Mount Kilimanjaro will vary given its five distinct ecological sectors. Temperature can drop below freezing as you near the summit.
