Zanzibar resorts

Zanzibar offers a large selection of fine accommodations both in Stone Town and on the beaches, catering to different tastes, interests and budgets. Whenever possible, we generally recommend that visitors combine a short stay in Stone Town to explore the history and architecture of the isles' cultural heart, with a stay on one of the beautiful Indian Ocean beaches.

Below are some of our favorite properties on the island.

Stone Town Accommodations

These fine accommodations in "down town" Zanzibar may not offer water sports or a garden, however they more than compensated with rich and vibrant characteristics. One or two nights cultural immersion stay in the Stone Town is considered an excellent a compliment to a relaxing a beach vacation. Combined they make for a well round Zanzibar experience. However given it's long and rich history many wish to learn more and wind up staying a little longer than planned. It's often time well spent and rejuvenating.

Some of our favorites in Stone Town

It is conveniently located about five minutes away from the port and only a further 20 minutes from the Zanzibar International Airport. Emerson Spice Hotel – Gold

Emerson Spice Hotel is located in Stone Town, on the west coast of Zanzibar. It is a wonderfully authentic property with a 360 degree view of Stone Town. It is considered to be in a prime location amongst the rooftops of Stone Town, with many hotels fighting for recognition as the best place to enjoy an atmospheric sundowner, as day passes to night and voices echo in the stone ravines below.

Zanzibar Serena Inn – Gold

A member of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the inn has been styled to represent the epitome of Swahili style, ethnic elegance and Arabic opulence.

Zanzibar Beach Resorts

The beach resorts in Zanzibar are fabulous and nicely hold their own against the finest in the world. Generally set in pristine gardens by the beach these delightful properties offer a variety of water sports and some of the beaches anywhere. The east coast beaches are considered more beautiful. However they face the prevailing winds and as such the seas are a little rougher.

The northern coast of Zanzibar is considered the best for relaxation and water sports. The east coast of Zanzibar is famous for its pristine palm fringed beaches stretching out as far as the eyes could see. Some of the most popular properties in Zanzibar are in the North East part of the Island. Pemba Island has some really outstanding properties too.
